Well, we did it. We survived our very first plane ride and lived to tell about it! The little peanut was a dream on the way out. I’m not going to lie though, it wasn’t easy, but it was totally doable. I won’t go into the long and boring about it, but she passed out after housing her bottle and slept for all 2 1/2 hours of our flight. She woke up right as we landed

We couldn’t get off the plane fast enough to meet Grandma in the airport!

That monster bag is the car seat. It was all I could do to hang on to Olivia and keep everything from falling all over the place. Thank god PJ will be with us on our next flight excursion (to Auntie Holly and Uncle Taylor’s Wedding!!!!!!).

Once we got to the lake, we just hung out. It was wonderful to have so much time with my parents and for them to get a real taste of what life is like with Olivia these days. She was a bit fussy at times and gave us hell multiple nights in a row trying to get her to sleep but all in all, she did great and had so much fun with Grandma and Grandpa. Here are a bunch of pictures from our trip! Enjoy!

we went down to the water as soon as we got there! Olivia wasn't sure what to think

Olivia's super cool bouncy seat!

We took naps

and went for airplane rides

and napped in the big green chair

played with the cool blanket from the Sparks

and bounced her and bounced her and bounced her until we had...

And finally, we had a couple of very special moments on this trip. The first one came through a random conversation that I was having with my mom about when my grandparents (dad’s parents) passed away. Unfortunately the dates of their passing don’t stick out for me because we didn’t have a close relationship with them growing up. My Grandfather passed away in 2004 and it struck my mom that she thought he passed away on January 3rd. The same day of the year that Olivia was born. And after a further look at some documents, she was right. It was a very bittersweet moment for me. This date now holds so much more for me and I’ll now always wonder a little if Grandpa Lake had a little something to do with Olivia’s late arrival.

The other special moment was when my dad told me he was going to name his new sailboat the “Olivia”! In fact, I think he’s thinking he’ll name it the O”liv”ia. So cute.

The future O"liv"ia!

I’m flattered beyond words. Naming a boat is a big deal and so is your first grandchild so I suppose it’s a perfect fit! She’s gonna be sailing circles around him sooner than he knows 😉

And the last very special moment had to do with my rocking chair. My grandparents passed this rocking chair down to me after my grandpa refinished and restrung it. It was given to my Grandma Lake from her father (I’m now questioning if this is correct) and then passed on to me. It was in Denver when my parents lived here but when they moved, it eventually made it’s way back up there. I always knew that my first child would receive this chair and now she’s finally here and is big enough to sit in it on her own.

excuse the drooly shirt

It was an amazing trip and I cannot wait for our trip back up there at the end of July. She’ll be almost 8 months at that point and there will be a whole bunch of new things to try out. Mainly…the water!!

Thanks to all of you who gave encouraging words of support and advice for the air travel. It’s good to know I can do it on my own.

Next up: Back to work! EEEEEKKK! I cannot believe that my maternity leave is nearly its end. I head back on Wednesday. It’s going to be tough, but I’m doing good (ask me that on Wed. morning). Going back is something that has to be done (damn you Mega Millions) so I have to have a good attitude. I’m looking forward to having some adult time and challenging my brain again, but I will miss my little peanut so dang much every day.

I’ll keep you posted…

The little Miss and I are headed to Michigan tomorrow to visit my parents and we’re REALLY excited to say the least!  I do have to say that I’m nervous and anxious about the big travel day mostly because PJ isn’t going with us.  This means I’ll be schleping all our stuff around by myself.  Once I get on the plane, I’ll feel better even though she could melt down.  I’m hopeful my little traveler will give me a whole lot of this

and none of this

While I’m at the lake, PJ won’t be twiddling his thumbs waiting for our return.  He’s headed to Lost Wages Las Vegas for a bachelor party.  It’s actually part of the reason I’m headed out of town.  It was a great opportunity to go see my folks and have a little extra help with Olivia while he’s gone.

Wish us luck!

On a Roll

Miss Olivia is 9 weeks old today!  She’s doing very well and has had quite a week!  As of last Monday, she has slept through the night without interruption!  This is amazing for all of us and I’m glad it has continued for so long!

Yesterday Miss O had her 2 month check up which came with shots.  I was trying to prepare her all day that she was going to get some “ouchies” but this is all she had for me

You're crazy mom

I'll be fine!

When are we leaving? I'm busy with my doggy friend

So we loaded up and took off to the park to meet Penelope and Shelley for a walk in the beautiful weather!

After a loop of the park, we headed to the Drs office for the dreaded appointment.

Turns out, Miss Olivia had a big event in store for us.  The Dr. put her on her tummy to check her back and of course she pulled her head up to get a look around.  The Dr. was impressed by her strength and said she would roll over much sooner than they anticipated (I think she said 3 months is average).  So, so positioned O’s arms so her hands were under her shoulders, and low and behold, a few minutes later, she rolled herself over!!!  I’m so glad that PJ and I were both there to witness it and I’m totally bummed I didn’t have my camera out to capture it.  Who knew our girl was such a prodigy.  HA!

So after we cheered and celebrated with her, the dreaded shots were sent in.  She had to get 3 shots and one oral but she did great.  It was not without some serious screaming, but as soon as I picked her up, she stopped.  What a trooper.

We’re still struggling with the spit up issues, but I think it’s getting a little better.  I’ve been removing dairy from my diet, so she suggested I continue for another week and see if it continues to improve.  If not, then we’ll just wait it out and she’ll eventually outgrow it.  Her weight gain is ok, but not great.  No alarms sounding yet, but I’m hopeful that each day she can keep a bit more food down so we can get her plumped up.

Here are her stats from the appointment:

Height:  23 inches
Weight:  10 lbs. 3.9 oz.
Head Circ:  15.35 inches

Here are a few other pictures from the past week for those of you who “can’t get enough”.  Have a great week!
